üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG, the transit authority for the city of Hannover,
will equip its service center and sales outlets with EasyTicket, the electronic cash register
system from Lufthansa Systems. Using the new system will enable üstra to provide a
faster and more secure service for its passengers. As EasyTicket is completely webbased,
the deployment of the solution also ushers in a new technological era for üstra.
Equipping the points of sales with the cash register system is beneficial for the sales staff and
customers alike. Thanks to EasyTicket, sales outlets no longer need conventional tear-off ticket
pads, because tickets can be printed conveniently and easily with the new sales system.
EasyTicket makes it possible to handle all business transactions at the point of sale (such as
the sale of regular, special and combination tickets, as well as exchanges and the handling of
vouchers). EasyTicket also automates the related administrative activities so that sales staff can
spend more of their valuable time on advising their customers.
üstra will be the first transit company to deploy the web-based version of EasyTicket. This
makes it possible to update product and fare information simultaneously for all service
terminals. "With EasyTicket, we are breaking new ground in our sales organization. We not only
improve our customer service at the point of sale with the new cash register system. Thanks to
the web-based design of the solution, we can also maintain and distribute information for all
POS systems from a central location, which reduces our administrative efforts greatly," said
Mathias Lindscheid, project manager at üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG. "Given that
EasyTicket is a system that features cutting-edge technology, we can position ourselves as an
innovative company in the market."
üstra has been collaborating successfully with Lufthansa Systems for several years. The transit
company has been using the sales control and billing system PATRIS® (Passenger Transport
Integrated Sales System) since 2001.
The Lufthansa Systems products for public transportation are already being employed by
around 20 German transit authorities, including Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe, S-Bahn Berlin,
Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahn AG, Stadtwerke Bonn, Rostocker Straßenbahn and
Leipziger Verkehrbetriebe.
