SilkAir opts for Crew Management System from Lufthansa Systems
With SilkAir, the wholly owned subsidiary and regional wing of Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa
Systems has again won a customer for its crew management solution in the Asia Pacific region,
joining Air Macau, Garuda Indonesia and Vietnam Airlines. This will enable SilkAir to further
optimize its entire crew management process, covering all phases from pairing construction and
crew rostering to crew tracking and post-flight activities.
Lufthansa Systems' network management solution NetLine counts almost 50 customers worldwide.
The module Netline/Crew is designed to specifically provide support for the entire crew
management process. Duty roster planning for crews is a complex task, since it involves
assigning crew members to flight rotations as efficiently as possible while observing complex
legal and airline-specific regulations. At the same time minimizing costs for hotel
accommodation and positioning flights are only two of the factors that also need to be
taken into account. In addition, the solution offers automatically generated pairings and
rosters and suggests pairing alternatives.
SilkAir enhances SIA's vast international network by developing new destinations in Asia and
serving regional connections using Singapore as the ideal transit hub. A full service carrier,
SilkAir operates services to and from 26 exotic destinations in Indonesia, Cambodia, China,
India, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. It has been voted Best Regional
Airline, Asia & China five times by readers of two of Asia Pacific's leading travel publications,
TTG Asia and TTG China.
