Lufthansa Systems today announced an agreement with THAI for the SAP Aerospace &
Defense industry solution. This contract with yet another Asian airline significantly
bolsters the presence of Lufthansa Systems in the Asian market. The MRO
(Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) solution will enable THAI to optimize its business
processes and to achieve sustainable cost savings.
In the future, the Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will rely on the proven
MRO expertise of Lufthansa Systems.
"We selected Lufthansa Systems based on their
successful MRO track record and their presence in the Asian market as evidenced by the
MRO project at Asiana," says Wg. Cdr. Supachai Limpisvasti, THAI’s Managing Director,
Technical Department, commenting on the agreement. He added that "The advanced
SAP solution puts us in a position to achieve sustainable MRO cost reductions in the
future.”
The aircraft servicing and maintenance business requires the highest levels of quality,
security and accountability. Lufthansa Systems fulfills these requirements with the SAP
Aerospace & Defense industry solution. The MRO experience of Lufthansa Systems also
demonstrates that potential cost savings can be identified especially through more efficient
maintenance and event planning. This enables airlines to maximize aircraft, equipment and
engine uptime, reduce warehousing and inventory costs, and optimize the use of
resources.
In addition to THAI and Asiana Airlines, Lufthansa Technik, CityLine, Alianza Summa and
Varig Engineering & Maintenance (VEM) also use the integrated software solution from
Lufthansa Systems.
"Our many years of international MRO experience enable us to respond flexibly to specific
customer requirements and to adapt our IT solutions accordingly," says Dr. Gunter Küchler,
Managing Director of Lufthansa Systems. "The contract is a great success for us and
strengthens our position in the Asian market. I am confident that other projects in this market
and with THAI will follow," says Küchler.
The project will be based in Bangkok. A team made up of experts from THAI and Lufthansa
Systems will commence work there in May 2005. The project is scheduled to run 24 months.
