The Full-service IT provider will present a broad range of solutions for the air cargo business and complex logistic processes .
Lufthansa Systems today announced that it will showcase a variety of cargo & logistics solutions at this year's Air Cargo Europe in Munich from May 31 to June 3, 2005. Booking processes for air cargo companies are very complex and require sophisticated and advanced systems support. To meet these requirements, Lufthansa Systems has developed the so-called Cargo Booking Engine for Lufthansa Cargo. This system allows faster and largely automated standardized booking across all booking channels, thereby increasing flexibility for logistics companies. In addition, the user-friendly system can also be operated by cargo novices. The system's online connections guarantee data currency, confirm the calculated route and allow direct booking.
Perfect solutions for booking inquiries and billing processes
The Routing Selector cargo booking system, which was developed by Lufthansa Systems, supports the handling of all booking inquiries and bookings submitted by cargo airlines. The system provides companies with a flight schedule overview including such basic data as departures and arrivals as well important information on possible embargoes and flight restrictions. Using the Routing Selector, handling and transit times, which were previously estimated, can now be calculated precisely. This saves precious time during the booking process and subsequent cargo transport.
The Cargo Revenue Accounting Solution (CRAS), which was jointly developed by Lufthansa Systems and Lufthansa Cargo, offers comprehensive support for all billing processes performed by logistics companies. The Web-based, client/server revenue calculation solution represents a seamless interface between IATA's Cargo Accounts Settlement System (CASS) and the SAP R/3 accounting system. It will help reduce operating costs and make billing processes more efficient, resulting in a significant increase in productivity. CRAS has a modular structure and can be adapted to the needs of small or medium-sized companies in the form of a business service or a hosting solution in an application service providing environment.
Experts in the air and on the road
For air cargo handling, Lufthansa Systems has developed Europe's leading standard solution, ELWIS. The software has already been installed at 19 European and South American airports in eight countries and covers the entire air cargo process chain from physical handling at the warehouse to service billing. Results include higher throughput rates and significantly lower costs. Thanks to its modular structure, ELWIS can handle even the most complex tasks. As a result, cargo companies can map their work processes step by step and grow along with the system.
Another product to be presented at the Air Cargo Europe is Lufthansa Systems' capacity management system. Together with logistics provider Kombiverkehr, a company that organizes and markets a Europe-wide network for combined road and railway traffic, Lufthansa Systems has identified the technical system requirements and optimization potential. The system supports Kombiverkehr's continuous capacity management – from daily and medium-term capacity planning to long-term network planning. The best possible train composition is determined based on the coordination of cargo structure and freight car type. This will allow the maximum allowable weight of a train to be utilized as efficiently as possible.
Visitors will find Lufthansa Systems in Exhibit Hall A4 at Booth 406
