The requirements of the payment card industry also affect the airline sector
Imagine losing your license for credit card-based transactions. At one stroke, the Internet ceases to exist as a distribution channel for the sale of your tickets – a complete disaster for your airline!
Think that it will never happen to you? Think again – all companies handling credit card data are obliged by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) to make their credit card data PCI compliant. Failure to comply can result in fines or worse, losing your license to handle credit card data.
Background
The Payment Card Industry (PCI) implemented a global security standard for credit and EC cards. Since then, all companies working with credit or bank card data have been obliged to comply with these PCI standards. Non-compliance can result in fines and even in the withdrawal of the concession for credit card-based transactions – a major threat to the airline industry which relies so heavily on credit card data within its processes.
In view of the increasing risks and dangers to credit card data, the introduction of this new standard must certainly be welcomed. However, no fewer than 380 detailed rules have to be implemented and followed when complying with PCI DSS.
380 rules? Can't that be made simpler?
Yes it can. With our product PCI Compliance Engine. Our USP is that we fulfill the 380 rules in a very simple way: by simply steering around them.
How? It's quite simple. Our product PCI Compliance Engine eliminates the credit card number from the individual applications and replaces it with a reference number known as an artificial ID. This means that the card data are no longer vulnerable – and therefore need no longer be protected.
This process of tokenization makes your credit card business secure and is highly instrumental in helping you to save time and costs. But that's not all: PCI Compliance Engine guarantees you the most important thing: you can continue to use all the distribution channels linked to the use of credit card data.
